Happy to report that Westford Academy (WA) ranked #4 in the state on the MCAS for English Language Arts at grade 10. Sixty-two percent of our students were in the advanced category. This is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations to the entire WA community! WA ranked 6th in the state overall in grade 10 (English, Math and Science). In addition, one-hundred and nine WA students will receive the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, which recognizes excellence on the statewide assessment. Westford Academy and Acton-Boxboro were among the highest in the area.
Westford Academy has improved in each area (Reading, Math, Writing) since 2007. This is a testament to the tremendous support that the community of Westford provides to Westford schools and the excellent teaching that takes place in the classrooms from kindergarten through grade 12.
Mr. Adam Goldberg advises an independent study at WA called “The BIG Project” (Bridging International Gaps) involving WA students participating in an online discussion on global citizenship through Facebook, writing monthly papers on issues of global importance, and we SKYPE with a partner school in Mumbai, India. This project was entered into a contest with WeAreTeachers.Com where the top five voted on projects receive a mini-grant. Nationwide, 671 teachers entered this contest and through the support of the community, at the present time this project is currently in the lead!
