I have been working with a buyer who recently found a condo that had everything she was looking for and she was ready to submit an offer to purchase. So that meant once I had the offer paperwork signed, I needed a way to get everything over to the listing agent as soon as possible. I was on the road, as usually happens on these occasions, and I was off to another appointment soon after. As they say in real estate, time is of the essence, so I wanted to get the offer sent over right away.
I was able to use the free app I had found and downloaded to my Droid phone which meant I could truly use my car as a mobile office. The app that I used is called CamScanner from IntSig. There are a number of different ones, some of which cost a few dollars, but most of those have a demo version that lets you use it a few times for free. Once you snap the picture, the app selects what it sees as the image, and with an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper it nailed it every time. If it doesn’t get it right on the first try you can select the image and re-size it. You can also rotate the image, crop it and enhance it for better quality. In the past I would have had to wait until I was in the office, the home one or the real one, to use my all-in-one scanner and email, or find a UPS Store or Staples, somewhere with a copier and fax machine. Since most of those places charge about a dollar per page, it can add up when you are talking about 5 or more pages in a typical offer.
To use CamScanner, I snapped a picture of each page that I needed to send. My phone has a pretty decent 5 megapixel camera which also has a “text” setting for taking pictures of printed material. I easily consolidated the multiple images into PDF format, attached them to an email and sent them off. All in about 5 minutes and all from my phone.
I just discovered that they have an app that lets you capture an image of a business card and save the information as a contact in your phone’s address book. I’m off to download that and give it a try while you try the CamScanner!
