We recently moved into a new place so decorating and outfitting my home has been a big priority for me lately. I bought some new appliances, remodeled some dressers, ordered new bedding, and went shopping for window treatments. Originally, I thought I wanted plantation shutters. But then, while shopping in a large home improvement store, I saw some blinds (whose brand name rhymes with Costyoumore) and everything changed. The cordless top down bottom up fabric blinds I spotted were awesome. However, after doing some quick calculations I was blind-ed by the price. The problem was that by now I really wanted these blinds so I headed to the internet and found the solution to my problem: Select Blinds.
I ordered some free samples from Select Blinds. I will be honest here; I ordered three sets of samples until I found the perfect shade of white for my new digs. It seemed silly to me at the time, but I have since learned that there are a LOT of shades of white in the world. I watched this How To Measure Video by Cariann Arkowski who has partnered with Select Blinds with her own @Home Collection by Cariann. I measured the windows, placed my order* online and waited. Oh, and I figured out my savings; I saved more than half using Select Blinds over the Costyoumore competition.
The blinds arrived professionally packaged. They came with all necessary hardware and a helpful installation guide. Each blind has a sticker affixed with one of the fields being the room name I had typed into the online order form. This is a brilliant time saver! Once unpacked, I simply placed each blind under the correct window and prepared to do the installation.
I am lucky enough to have a fun and sweet handyman (who moonlights as resident Chief Geek) to help put up the blinds. We followed the installation instructions: measure bracket placement, drill holes, screw brackets into place, snap blinds onto brackets. For the deck doors we did an outside mount, but we did an inside mount for all the other windows. We had the blinds up in no time.
I can’t say enough good things about Select Blinds. I have had a great experience all around: website, customer service, quality, timeliness and savings. Sure, you have to measure and install yourself, but they make the process so easy and user-friendly. Most importantly, they look like the luxurious custom blinds that they are.
P.S. In case you’re not convinced how easy it was to install my own custom blinds, take a peek at my handsome handyman hamming it up (while hanging them up).
