Happy Birthday Julia Child!

Julia Child’s 100th birthday would have been today, August 15th 2012. In her honor, here is our special Julia edition of Things Worth Sharing.

Julia Child
Jessie Moore Oleson from cakespy.com wrote a short appreciation of Julia that you can find here.

PBS put together this great montage video celebrating their French Chef as well.

If you are as fascinated by Julia Child and her legacy as I am, I have two books to highly recommend: My Life in France which she co-authored with Alex Prud’Homme, her great-nephew and As Always, Julia: The Letters of Julia Child and Avis DeVoto edited by Joan Reardon. They give you an in-depth view of what it took for her to develop one of the most important cookbooks in the 20th century, Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

Finally, if you live in the Boston area, Savenor’s Market is serving birthday cake today to go along with their month-long celebration in her honor. Their Cambridge, MA location was her favorite place to shop.
